Issue 18
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Great news regarding the new Administration Building. We will be in the space as of next week. Whist there is still plenty of work to do in other areas of the school, this part of the project is complete. Please access the building from Barrington Avenue if you need to come to the office. Only the “front gate” of the school leading to the grassed area will still be open for access and exit before and after school from next week. Work on converting the current office into the new library space will commence once we vacate and this will mean the main” front gate” will be inaccessible. In the coming months the address of the school will change to reflect our main presence on Barrington Avenue.
Thank you to our year 3 cohort for leading us in today’s Assembly. There was once plenty of wonderful work on display and the students kept us captivated with there quality presentations. Thank you girls and boys, well done.
Congratulations to our year 6 students who co-ordinated an excellent Mission Mayhem earlier in the week. The students collaborated in small groups to run a wide selection of stalls including po- corn, a photobooth and lolly bags, along with many games of skill and chance. With tremendous support from the school community, the students raised over $500.
The money raised will go to Catholic Missions to support the work of the Salesian Sisters in a small community called Venilale.
The Year 6 children reflected on the choices we can make in our world to support others and brought into fruition their great ideas and planning.
The school community had a wonderful time participating in the stalls and we look forward to seeing lots of photographs on our facebook page.
Again, thank you to Mr Burness, Miss Wood and the Year 6 leaders for their dedication in seeing this project through to the end.
A reminder that school hats are a compulsory component of our school uniform. If a hat is left at home, there other play options whether they be under the many verandahs, in the library or in the gym.
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
All Saints Day and All Souls Day Feast
All Saints Day is a day used to remember all Saints living in God's presence but those in particular those who may not be remembered on their own particular day or have been forgotten over time.
All Souls Day is a day we remember those special people in our lives who have passed. Often the month of November is used in church as a month to pray for those closest to us who have died. On All Souls Day, we think of all the forgotten souls. In some cultures, like my own, All Souls Day is a happy occasion, not a sad one where we remember all the wonderful things our deceased family and friends brought to our lives and treasure the moments, we had with them.

Term 4 Week 3
It seems an age since our last newsletter way back in Term 1 when we had just returned from our Zoo Snooze.
Since then we have had some fantastic whole school events to which Year 4 have made varied and excellent contributions.
To name and remember a few:
Swimming Week, Feast of the Sacred Heart, Book week, SALA, Sports Day, School ‘Disney’ Concert, Pyjama Day and a couple of showdowns.
A big thank you to the whole host of students and adults who have made all these fantastic events a reality over the year. There remain a few more yet so please save the dates for things like the Christmas Carol Concert and the Year 6 Production, ‘Rock Bottom’ in December.
In the meantime, Year 4 will continue their best efforts in areas such as tangrams in Mathematics, alphabet books in English and moral choices for the good of the environment in Religious Education.
This Term in Physical Education, our Junior Primary students have been focusing on Basketball. Students have learnt about the rules of the game, developed an understanding about spatial awareness and different movement strategies. Alongside this, we have focused on building key fundamental motor skills such as passing, dribbling, catching and shooting. Throughout our lessons students are beginning to understand different body movements, analysing their strengths and identifying areas to improve their performance. Positive participation, collaboration and highlighting fair play has been a major focus within our sessions this semester. I look forward to working with the students for the remainder of the year, seeing them develop and learn new insights.
