Term 4 Week 7
A Round of Applause for Year 6
A huge thank you to the Year 6 students, our Performing Arts teacher Jacki Williams, and Anita Marino for the performance last week. The students performed with confidence and enthusiasm, showcasing their talent and hard work. It was evident that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and we are very proud of their efforts. Well done also to our highly capable Year 5 students who supported backstage. Special thank you to Matt Burness, Elisa Consentino and Bernie Meixner for their guest appearance in the performance.
Swimming Program Success
Thank you to Physical Education Specialist Anita Marino for coordinating this week's swimming program for our Reception to Year 4 students. The program has provided a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their water safety skills while having fun.
Advent Spirit at School
As we commence the season of Advent on Sunday 1 December, we would like to invite the students to celebrate this joyful occasion by wearing a Christmas hat or headband to school during Weeks 8 and 9. This is an opportunity to embrace the joy of this liturgical season as we prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas.
Preparing for 2025
This week at St Gabriel's, we have started the gradual process of upgrading some furniture in classrooms in preparation for 2025 and commencing the end of year clean up.

Advent
This Sunday marks the beginning of Advent in the Catholic Church. It is a time when we reflect on the coming of Christ the King into the world at Christmas.
There are four weeks of Advent which each have a theme. We begin with Hope, then Peace, Joy and love.
Advent is a time of waiting and preparing our hearts to receive Jesus our King into our hearts.
We are filled with hope for the future, peace in our hearts, joy in our lives and love in the world. What better gift could you receive at Christmas?
Included in the newsletter this week for your use is an Advent Calendar prepared by Catholic School Parents SA:
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Families are invited to donate nonperishable food items or toys for the Vinnies Christmas appeal. Donations can be made to the school office and placed under the Christmas tree.
2025 House Captains
The election of House Captains for 2025 will begin next week. Year 5 students have nominated whether they would like to be considered for House Captain and their name placed on a ballot paper.
Elections and the final vote counting will take place in the coming weeks and will be complete by the end of the year.
The induction of the new school leaders will take place at the Opening School Mass in 2025.
Parents of the newly elected house captains will be notified and invited to attend the Mass in 2025 to witness their children being inducted.
We wish the Year 5 children good luck as they prepare for the elections.
All year the Year 6 students have been working tirelessly to perform in the school Musical, Star Warts The Umpire Strikes Again. Last Wednesday on the 20th November, the students finally got to present their skills and talents on stage for two screenings! The students did an absolutely amazing show and are highly commended for their commitment, motivation and talents. Well done!
In Week 6, we had Simply Football visit St. Gabriel's School for a Soccer Clinic. A mixture of boys and girls across various year levels participated in the sessions with an aim to develop their skills. Students have learnt about the fundamentals of the game through various drills and gameplay exercises as well as building their understanding on different rules within soccer.
Soccer has been a very popular sport amongst boys and girls at St. Gabriel's over the years and it's great to see numbers and interest continue to grow. It's been a pleasure to see the students enjoying their soccer and learn new concepts with their fellow classmates.
A major focus in Physical Education this year has been learning new movement concepts, understanding the importance of fair play and participation. A big thank you to Giancarlo from Simply Football for coming out to our school and promoting the game. Thanks to Mrs Anita Marino for organising the clinic.
