Term 1 Week 5

Dear Families and Friends of St Gabriel's
Assembly
Thank you to all families who attended last Friday’s assembly, led by our Year 6 students. It was wonderful to gather as a community before the assembly to enjoy a coffee and a conversation before assembly began at 9:15 am. These moments of connection are so valuable, and we appreciate every opportunity to bring our school community together.
Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Recently, representatives from our staff team, Sharon Williams, Will Holmes, Dina Staffiero, Olivia Niejalke, and myself, attended training on Positive Behaviour Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Social-emotional learning plays a key role in student confidence and success. By fostering skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive relationships, we help students navigate challenges and thrive both academically and personally.
Overall, our participation in this program will work to establish a school wide approach to how we support students with expectations, as well as how we cater for social emotional learning and wellbeing. Our commitment to this area of student development will continue to grow, and we look forward to working together with families to support our students.
Join Us for Coffee and Conversation
I look forward to seeing all families for coffee and conversation before our assembly next Friday. These informal gatherings provide a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, and strengthen our school community.
2025 Annual General Meeting
We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for Wednesday 19th March, Week 8 of Term 1. We value the input of all families and encourage you to attend and engage with us during this session. Your participation is vital in ensuring that we continue to provide the best possible experience for our students and community.

Welcome to our new Reception students for 2025!
During the first two weeks of school, students participated in our SWEL learning program. These weeks are crucial in establishing a safe and inclusive learning environment while giving students a sense of belonging. They also provide an opportunity for students to build relationships with their teacher, other staff members, and their peers. This period included a range of activities and lessons designed to engage students as they begin their formal school journey. Students took part in drawing self-portraits, creating their own learning goals, co-creating classroom expectations, and learning school routines. The students have settled in well and are excited for the learning ahead. We look forward to sharing more from our classrooms with the school community.
Reception teachers,
Mrs Williams, Miss Duggan (REWD) and Ms Yim (REY).

Dear Parents,
Great news! I am now a Sports Vouchers Plus provider. Children in Reception to Year 6 are eligible to receive two $100 Sports Vouchers per calendar year, helping you save on costs and fees.
This year, the program has expanded to include sport, active recreation, and music lessons, providing more opportunities for children to stay active and socially connected.
If you’d like to use a Sports Voucher for your child's music lessons, please let me know! You can also visit www.sportsvouchers.sa.gov.au for more details.
How to Redeem Your Voucher:
- Inform me that you’d like to use a voucher for your child.
- Provide your child’s details, including their 11-digit Medicare number or Australian visa number (a key identifier). You can do this by:
- Completing a voucher form (available on the Sports Vouchers website)
- Using my online registration system (if applicable)
- Filling out my own online form
- Once I have all the required details, I will apply the discount and reduce your fees. You will then pay the remaining balance (if any).
- Some providers cannot offer an upfront discount. If this applies, you will need to pay the full fee initially and receive a refund once the voucher has been processed.
Important: A child can use up to $200 in vouchers per year, but I must keep a record of whether they are using one $100 voucher or both.
This is my first time lodging claims, so I appreciate your patience as I navigate the process. For now, I am trialing this at just two schools this term, but I hope to expand it further if everything runs smoothly.
I hope this helps make music lessons more accessible for everyone!
Cheers,
Terry 🎸
